The Starting Point

Here we go then, the boat is out of the water at the end of a wettish summer, up on the hard surrounded by other boats all getting the same treatment .

Well perhaps not, anyway we have started to strip the anti-fouling off her .
Years of being repainted have built up it must be 3 or 4 mil thick, more in places . Anyway all off reprimed and reanti-fouled is the way to go. So we have made a start cleaning back to the gel coat to check that as well. All seems to be in order, no bubbles or signs of osmosis. Which is good.

It looks as though she may have been light blue originally below the water

All of the cushions will have to be replaced and recovered. Most of the inside will be refitted. It works but is tired. The cooker needs to be tested. We have got another one to replace it, so we will see.

The Toilet will have to go. I know its a feature of this model and I'm sure she may lose some of her charms but believe me trying to use the thing when your 6'2" and weigh 18.5 stone or 260lb's is no joke. Plus the funky perfume she has, leaves a little to be desired.

I think the little sink under the hatch way will have to go as well, not much use and could be replaced by the useful storage.

We will check out and sort the electrics which are old but in working order. We may add a thing or two, I'm not sure yet. All of the main electrics are mounted on a swing out board for use when cruising which is great. There's even an auto pilot. I will put another bigger battery on board for the instruments and internal lighting etc. All of which will need to be checked , not forgetting the nav lights and radio.
Biggest job will be to put a new out board on her with built in charging and easy start so something 6hp plus will have to be fitted. Weight will be an issue so we may have to offset the batteries or something who knows yet.

Out side she will have a complete new paint job top to bottom. All the sheets and halyards changed and any other ropes or lines.
Hark at me getting all Nautique, Sheets ,Halyards...
Like I know what I'm talking about.

Ha Ho Onwards
